Why New Year Resolutions Break Faster Than They Are Made

Come New Year and we all grab our pens, pencils, markers, notepads and set to write big goals for our health, career, money, relationships; with purest intentions.

You launch your journey enthusiastically.

You devotedly walk 10 K steps daily. Some go ahead and even take annual gym memberships.

You ardently eat healthy, cook at home and stay away from junk food.

You try waking up every day at 5.30 am without hitting the snooze button.

You go to bed on time. You meditate. You pray, do brain boosting exercises.

You are in full control of your mind, body and spirit.

But sooner than you may realize, all the enthusiasm starts fading away.

Your devotion vanishes and the excitement wanes.

All that you started with so much keenness disappears into thin air.

Now you feel like a failure.

Now you are completely disappointed in yourself.

Now you are heartbroken.

And then you vow to make new goals again the next year and declare to definitely reach them. But the same pattern repeats; again and again, year after year until the day you notice it and decide to do something about it.

Here are the promptest things that you can do right away to reverse the never ending cycle of making and breaking goals once and for all:

1)         OWN YOUR GOALS

Do you know the prime reason of your constant failure?

You fail because you set these goals looking at the outside world.

You set these goals looking at your ideals, famous celebrities, leaders, politicians, sportsman.

You look at their outer success and decide to achieve all that in a month’s time ignoring all the hard work, struggle and labor that goes in reaching where they are.

So, the next time you sit down to write your goals, OWN YOUR GOALS.

Set goals that are purely yours; the goals that you want to achieve, not what you think you should achieve.

2)         YOUR GOALS SHOULD MAKE YOU HAPPY

When you set goals as per what you should do rather than what you want to do or are happy to do, you are giving invitation to failure, despair, disappointment.

When you want to become how society would like you to be, instead of becoming the one who you like to be, you end up in frustration and desperation.

So pick up goals that speak to your heart and your happiness and be ready to see the magic.

For example: when setting goals for weight loss, see what gives you pleasure. It could be walking, dancing, swimming, running, going to gym. Once decided, stick to it.

If you will do that activity happily, you are more likely to do it consistently. And if you do it consistently then you will surely be able to achieve your goals.

3)         Understand the “WHY” behind your goals.

While setting your goals, be it health, career, relationship goals, always understand the “Why” of these goals.

Why do you want to lose 10 kilos in next 6 months? Is it to improve your health, have more energy, run a marathon, look beautiful in that black dress or becoming a model? Whatever your “WHY” is, it should make you happy.

These actions will enhance your true success.

So the next time you’re setting a new goal, make sure it’s in alignment with your Own World. Your Happiness. Your Heart.

Always remember:

YOU ARE A MANIFESTING MAGNET WHO IS HERE ON A JOYFUL JOURNEY.

BE PRESENT. PAY ATTENTION.
